Read the story of a young Christian girl who fought off a bride-snatcher because she would not marry anyone outside of her faith. Despite repeated beatings, she persevered long after her strength should have been gone. How did she manage to survive?

Think about times you have needed God's strength in a crisis. Then answer the following questions as a family:

• How has God strengthened you in a time of need? Share your story.

• Why do you think Christians often forget to call on God's strength until a time of crisis? Explain.

• What are ways that we can call on God for strength in our everyday lives? Can tapping into God's strength become a daily habit rather than a desperate plea in a crisis? How could that change the way you live?
